XGS-PON ONT

ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT

With the ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT, the ARGUS® can be expanded into a fully-fledged XGS-PON tester via the integrated SFP slot. The pointto-multipoint topology of a 10 Gigabit PON (10 Gigabit Passive Optical Network) in accordance with ITU-T G.9807.1 can thus be tested in the same way as with xDSL and G.fast: simply, securely and quickly. In conjunction with the ARGUS®, the ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT is battery-powered and optimally protected by integration via SFP - making it ideal for use in the field.

To configure the ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT, the serial number and password can be entered directly into the ARGUS® and transferred to the ONT (Optical Network Terminal). This means it is ready for use extremely quickly and can replace any customer ONT on site. The MAC address can be changed via the ARGUS® for test purposes, making configuration errors a thing of the past. The separate XGS-PON trace detects authentication problems such as incorrect passwords or failed connection attempts.

The ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT not only allows the complete protocol setup (PPP), but also provides important connection information such as the PON ID and the ONU ID. Connecting to the wrong OLT port (XGS-PON-ID) is a frequent source of errors that cannot be detected with a power meter or OTDR.

With an existing IP connection, the ARGUS® can be used to test all important services (including performance, speed and triple play tests), either via IPv4 or IPv6. Even management services can be used, the ARGUS® supplies itself with the latest firmware or a suitable configuration via the XGS-PON interface if required and stores measurement logs in the cloud.

The ARGUS® XGS-PON ONT supports the Digital Diagnostic Mode (DDM) according to SFF-8472 and displays level information for each measurement. The Rx and Tx levels can be used to identify the optical power budget or significant irregularities in the fiber optic cabling, such as fiber breaks, bad splices or improperly patched connections. Prepare now for the next generation of ultra-fast fiber optic connections and the upcoming freedom of choice in end devices - with an ARGUS® as a reliable reference device for testing.
