The new firmware (version 2.01 / 4.01) offers many new functions and improvements for the ARGUS testers 15x and 16x. After the firmware update, it is possible to perform all IP tests (including download, upload, ping, traceroute, VoIP, IPTV, network scan) via WLAN in the new WLAN client operating mode and to check this functionally. After the scan, the networks found are displayed together with their field strength and the ARGUS can connect to a selected network. It is possible to store up to 20 networks with passwords.

In VDSL access, the new graph "Noise/tone" displays the noise on the line that has been cleared of vectoring (similar to Active Line Noise). So only the interferers are displayed that really interfere and not those that are eliminated by vectoring anyway. Unlike the QLN, the new graph is updated over the entire synchronization period and is therefore ideal for visualizing irregular interferers as well as permanent interferers such as power supplies.

The HTTP/FTP down- and upload performance for full throughput at e.g. FTTH1000 has been optimized and the display for the HTTP/FTP down- and upload tests has been revised. For the server profiles FTP down- and upload as well as FTP server there is the new setting FTP port, which is adjustable between 1 and 65535. In addition, the Layer 3 setting in the traffic generator (ARGUS 166 & 165) has been extended to include BGP settings that are comparable to the BGP settings in the VL profiles.

In addition, the service VoIP was extended by the new SIP parameter "Realm", which is used to check the authentication of the server in the client. If the setting is empty, any realm is accepted.

The new access Optical Power Meter (USB) together with the USB power meters released by us makes it possible to determine optical levels at all fiber-based interfaces. After the start, the optically measured power is displayed in dBm. During the test, wavelengths between 850 and 1625 nm are adjustable. All measurements can be stored in a measurement protocol.

Furthermore, a WLAN spectrum analysis (graphical) is supported to locate interference sources using the ARGUS 2G4 Scope. This new accessory makes it easy to detect typical WLAN interferers such as Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens or motion detectors. The mobility together with the ARGUS handheld tester makes it possible to locate interferers even in areas that are difficult to access.

With the new single test "Multi-cable test" (ARGUS 163 & 162), up to 100 cable test measurements can be stored as part of the LAN cabling test option. With each multi-cable test, the individual measurements can be viewed, changed and deleted afterwards.

All QR codes that can be displayed at runtime or at the end of a test or sync process are now also available in the corresponding measurement protocols in the device. The QR code can be called up via the corresponding softkey in the measurement log display with the results from the measurement log.
