Lüdenscheid, April 2025 - intec Gesellschaft für Informationstechnik mbH, German innovation leader in the field of telecommunications measurement technology, is presenting the ARGUS® F series at this year's Fiberdays 2025 in Frankfurt, the leading trade fair for fiber optic expansion. This family of devices, consisting of the ARGUS® F200, ARGUS® F240 and ARGUS® F300 fiber testers, has been specially developed for the installation and maintenance of optical networks such as GPON and XGS-PON.
ARGUS® F200 – Basic Fiber Tester
The ARGUS® F200 is a specialized selective power meter for GPON and XGS-PON networks. It enables measurements at three or optionally four or five wavelengths and can be switched into existing PON connections in through mode. This allows the optical levels on the different downstream (OLT) and upstream (ONT) wavelengths for GPON and XGS-PON as well as that of a possible video overlay (1550 nm) to be precisely determined simultaneously via five separate filters. This is particularly relevant for TV transmission via fiber optics, which is becoming increasingly important in Germany - not least due to the elimination of the ancillary cost privilege. In addition, other transmitters that may be on the line (Alien ONT) can be detected and the PON ID can be read out from the PLOAM message. A PLOAM monitor scans all ONU IDs and serial numbers of connected ONTs. An Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS) is optionally available, which enables the calculation of signal losses in fiber optic cables and thus evaluates the quality of data transmission.
ARGUS® F240 – Fiber Tester
In addition to the functions of the F200, the ARGUS® F240 offers a complete ONT simulation with IP and performance tests up to 10 Gbit/s. Additional test functions such as WLAN analyzer, WLAN speed tests via WiFi6e, triple play tests such as VoIP, IPTV and data tests in the form of uploads/downloads, ping and traceroute as well as iperf or high-performance IP speed tests directly on the fiber or Ethernet are integrated. The optional OLTS can also be used here for precise attenuation calculation.
ARGUS® F300 – Universal Fiber Tester
The ARGUS® F300 is the only device in the world that combines an OTDR with a selective OPM and can determine and display both the PON ID and the XGS-PON ID. The OTDR measures the line and the event attenuation and determines the line length, splices and connectors based on the propagation time of the reflected pulse. In addition, the ARGUS® F300 offers a complete ONT simulation with IP and performance tests up to 10 Gbit/s as well as extensive test functions such as WLAN analyzer and triple play tests. The optional OLTS extends the possibilities for attenuation measurement and quality assessment of fiber optic connections.
All devices in the F series have an SFP slot that can be used for Active Ethernet (AON), as is often the case in FTTH installations. It also enables comprehensive verification of the network transfer point of a PON connection. This allows network operators and end customers to use their preferred end devices without restrictions and make the best possible use of the fiber optic connection.
The Fiber Inspection Tool can also be connected via USB, which inspects the cut surface of an optical fiber at the connection point for scratches and defects and displays these as a video image and in tabular form.
The ARGUS® Mobile App is available for all devices in the ARGUS® F series. With this app, measurement results can be conveniently transferred to mobile devices and managed. This makes the documentation and analysis of measurement data considerably easier and offers a flexible option for optimizing work processes.
