CeBIT 2015: intec demonstrates its proven ARGUS testers in real-world applications – focus on wide range of functions and new features

Luedenscheid, March 2015 – intec is pulling out all the stops at CeBIT 2015: as one of Europe’s leading suppliers of combined xDSL, Ethernet and IP measuring technology, the measurement specialist is once again presenting its ARGUS testers to the largest trade show in the digital world. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the ARGUS testers; which European network operators depend on to ensure quality, while expanding their broadband capacities to comply with public digital agenda initiatives.

Using a real street cabinet, intec will demonstrate the performance power of its testing instruments on location, illustrating the broad range of functions and the extreme ease of use while showcasing new features. The focus is on the two top-of-the-line models, ARGUS 162 and ARGUS 165. Both ADSL+VDSL testers are equipped with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces (Cu + SFP) and optionally support copper and triple-play tests as well as ISDN (BRI S/T/U, PRI/E1) and POTS. The ARGUS 165 can even be upgraded to a powerful SHDSL tester (SHDSL.bis 8-wire). This instrument is ideal for commissioning VDSL2 -Vectoring installations as well as the widely used FTTH technology, and offers performance measurement according to RFC2544 as well as numerous useful functions such as TDR, spectral analysis, Active Probe, PESQ and VNC control. Additionally, a VDSL2 bonding expansion is available for the ARGUS 162.

Innovative functional enhancements
Beyond that, the two testers offer even more future-proof features, particularly with respect to Gigabit passive optical networks (GPON), the fibre-optic internet of tomorrow. The ARGUS Copper Box enhances device versatility even further with many new and proven functions, such as control of remote kits with high measurement and evaluation quality. Additionally, both instruments can now be expanded with a Wi-Fi interface, enabling them to communicate with established cloud-based electronic job management systems using smart phones, tablets or PCs, or function as an access point.

All of intec’s ARGUS testers additionally stand out in field use thanks to their exceptionally long operation times (up to 8 hours VDSL sync) and easily replaceable battery packs, extremely short boot times (9 sec), a highly sensitive keypad and the ability to conveniently save up to 100 customer-specific access configurations with test profiles. The field-proven technology is complemented by a full range of accessories and responsive, knowledgeable support.
