intec introduces an economical tester for ADSL and ISDN accesses

The ARGUS 42 offers test functions for ADSL1/2/2+ as well as IP ping

At CeBIT 2007 intec Gesellschaft für Informationstechnik mbH presents three new handheld testers in the lower price range, which combine a wide range of functions with exceptionally convenient operation: The ADSL and ISDN combi-tester ARGUS 42, the ISDN tester ARGUS 3u plus and the ADSL tester ARGUS 41 plus.

The ARGUS 42 - ADSL1/2/2+ and ISDN combi-tester
The ARGUS 42, ADSL combi-tester supports an extensive range of measurement functions for ADSL, ADSL2 as well as ADSL2+ accesses. As an option, it also offers internal support for the measurement of not only BRI and U-interface accesses but POTS accesses as well. The ARGUS 42 measures among others the maximum ADSL data rate and line parameters such as the signal-to-noise ratio and the up and downstream attenuation.
As an option, the ARGUS 42 is also available with an ATM-IP package, which supports both Internet connections via PPP and IP ping. Furthermore, the ARGUS 42 also offers support for RC measurements (capacitance and resistance measurements). Thanks to the intuitive, easily understood menu system, which permits among other things easy configuration and the storage of various profiles, the new ARGUS is simple to operate. It is also easy to connect a headset, since it is simply connected to the tester via a standard phone plug.

The ARGUS 3u plus - ISDN tester
With its test functions for ISDN BRI and U-interface accesses and its support for operation as a POTS terminal or POTS monitor, the ARGUS 3u plus offers a number of convincing arguments. Furthermore, it not only supports an automatic access test, service checks and supplementary service tests, it can also perform physical measurements with evaluations and bit error rate measurements. As an option, the ARGUS 3u plus can also perform cabling tests. Other functions include: an HF test that can distinguish between the ADSL and U-interface frequencies, automatic detection of a connected headset as well as an integrated mini-splitter that prevents interference from ADSL frequencies.

The ARGUS 41 plus - the entry-level ADSL1/2/2+ tester
The ARGUS 41 plus is an uncomplicated handheld tester for performing measurements on ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ accesses. It measures the voltages on the access and based on these measurements can determine the cause of a variety of faults: for example, external voltages, connections with open circuits, faulty cabling, problems in the access line or the splitter or faulty synchronisation with the DSLAM. Furthermore, these voltage measurements also enable the ARGUS to determine the type of access under test, i.e. POTS or ISDN. The result of the ADSL measurement, for example the downstream rate, is shown in clear text on the display. The ARGUS 41 plus also supports an IP ping function.

intec GmbH
intec GmbH has been engaged in the development of ISDN products for more than eighteen years. Since 1998, intec has specialized in the development and production of ISDN test equipment. It expanded in the last four years to include ADSL measurement equipment. The common thread over all these years has been equipment clearly designed to support users in their day-to-day work. ARGUS testers and analyzers are not only used by many German telecommunication companies such as Arcor, Deutsche Telekom, ISIS in Düsseldorf and HanseNet in Hamburg, but also worldwide – for example by Telefonica (the largest Spanish network operator) and Telekom Austria.
