Press Release
A New Handheld Tester – The ARGUS 3u NT:
Terminal and network simulation for ISDN accesses
Lüdenscheid, October 2006. With the ARGUS 3u NT, intec GmbH adds yet anotherhandheld tester in its classic handset design to the ARGUS 3u series. Expanding on the features of the successful ARGUS 3u plus and ARGUS 3u basic, which were released earlier, the ARGUS 3u NT also includes a comprehensive
set of functions for network simulation. Not only that but all of the testers in the ARGUS 3u series now have an improved set of standard features.
ARGUS 3u NT: A broad spectrum of functions
Like the other two models, the ARGUS 3u NT offers an extensive set of functionsfor testing ISDN BRI and U-interface accesses plus it can serve as a POTS terminal or monitor. In addition, it supports network simulation on BRI accesses using any of the common ISDN protocols and access configurations. The ARGUS 3u NT offers complete monitoring of the D-channel on BRI accesses. The data can be decoded to clear text using a PC.
The following table presents an overview of the main tests supported by each
of the three testers in the ARGUS 3u series:
Funktion | ARGUS 3u basic | ARGUS 3U | ARGUS 3u NT |

Improved functions for the entire series of testers
Beginning now, not only the new ARGUS 3u NT, but also the ARGUS 3u plus and ARGUS 3u basic are available as improved models with a number of optimized
and expanded functions. The improvements include an HF-Test, which allows to distinguish between ISDN U and ADSL frequencies, automatic detection of a connected headset as well as the inclusion of an integrated mini-splitter, which prevents interference from ADSL frequencies. Further improvements include protection against the total discharge of the accumulators as well as the complete elimination of hazardous substances as required by the RoHS (EU Directive on the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances”) guidelines.
intec GmbH
intec GmbH has been engaged in the development of ISDN products for more than seventeen years. Since 1998, intec has specialized in the development and production of ISDN test equipment. It expanded in the last three years to include ADSL measurement equipment. The common thread over all these years has been equipment clearly designed to support users in their day-to-day work. ARGUS testers and analyzers are not only used by many German telecommunication companies such as Arcor, Deutsche Telekom, ISIS in Düsseldorf and HanseNet in Hamburg, but also worldwide – for example by Telefonica (the largest Spanish network operator) and Telecom Austria.
